My name is Eleanor and I’ m a librarian. My library is doing an awesomely cool project called the Web Things Challenge. Based on the groundbreaking 23 Things program from the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County, this series of activities is meant to allow library staff (and just not librarians!) to familiarize themselves with web tools and technologies. I consider myself a web-savvy early adopter and I have at least some experience with a lot of the Things being highlighted, but there’s always more to learn! And there’s a Wii being offered up as a grand prize!
My goals for this project are relatively simple I think. In no particular order I want to:
1. Learn how to podcast.
2. Win a Wii.
3. Experience the fun of seeing my coworkers get on board with these technologies.
4. Win a Wii.
5. Celebrate that libraries are vital, fun, exciting places to be and that librarianship is a really extraordinary field for those interested in web 2.0.
6. Win a Wii.
What I mean to say is, that Wii has my name written all over it!
Seriously, playing around with web 2.0 has been one of the most fulfilling elements of my job since I started working as a librarian 3 years ago. My interest in user friendly, web-based technologies has made my job easier and has greatly enhanced by ability to assist patrons. I’ve been eager for my library to embrace a project like this and cannot wait to see where it takes us as a library system!
Good luck on winning that Wii! Glad to have you on board.

Good luck on winning that Wii!
It’s not luck. Oh no. It’s destiny.
