Technorati is a fantastic tool for finding blogs on specific topics. The search for “Learning 2.0″ was fascinating and lead me to Helene Blowers’s blog, which I keep meaning to subscribe to but keep forgetting about. I also liked that the search returned videos as well as posts and blogs.
The Popular list was really interesting and would be, I think, a great way to get people who are hesitant about blogs to give them a try. (I was, however, perturbed by the lack of a special popular list for sports blogs, seeing as how popular they are and all!)
I really like being able to see how many people have linked to a site. Again, that’s a great tool for explaining to newbies how blogs interconnect to establish authority. I realize it’s not a perfect metric, but it’s like being able to see how many people have tagged a site in del.icio.us; it’s important to know when other people have vetted a site.
